OneMarket Gives Back

OneMarket has had the fortunate opportunity to give back to the community over the past several months, supporting three unique and amazing organizations. Driven by our collective passion for our local community and our hopes to make a difference in the lives of those in need, we’ve come together to support Project Night Night, the San Francisco and Marin Food Bank and St. Baldricks Foundation.

Project Night Night

Having an office on Market Street in San Francisco means that we regularly pass by the homeless population on our way to and from work, and in some cases that can mean small children living on the streets with their parents. In an effort to lift the spirits of these children and provide them with a sense of security, we partnered with Project Night Night and spent an afternoon in the office assembling over 100 care packages that included an age appropriate book, a stuffed animal, and a warm blanket. These packages we delivered during the holiday season, making the packages a little extra special for their recipients.

St. Baldrick’s Foundation

Unfortunately, many of our colleagues have been touched by cancer in some way, and we were honored to partner with an organization committed to supporting the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives. St. Baldrick’s Foundation hosts head-shaving fundraising events all over the country where volunteers can shave their heads to stand in solidarity with the children and young adults fighting cancer.

OneMarket participated in this year’s event at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland with Leonardo Formaggio (shavee), Dan Moy (shavee) and Maureen MacLean (volunteer),  represented the company. OneMarket and it’s team members reached out to coworkers, friends and family for donations and also contributed proceeds from sales of our surplus StandDesks, raising a (current) total of $6,619 and climbing, contributing to the event total of $155,259 (and also climbing)! This was the first year in several years that the event was held in the outpatient building, and our OneMarket representatives loved seeing the children and their parents looking on from the hospital floors above smiling and waving as they shaved their heads.

San Francisco and Marin Food Bank

OneMarket offered an opportunity for employees to impact our local communities by taking a few hours out of our work day to volunteer at the SF and Marin Food Bank. With a mission to end hunger in San Francisco and Marin, the Food Bank has pioneered many successful models aimed at ending hunger. We spent an afternoon measuring, weighing, packing and sealing bags of oats for distribution in their Neighborhood Pantry locations. Over the course of several hours, we managed to package more than 2,800 lbs of oats in single pound bags, resulting in thousands of meals for those in need.

In the year ahead we plan to expand our charitable initiative to support these causes and others that we are in the process of identifying. We’re proud to support those in need in our community and we’re committed to doing our part.
